About Splatterhouse
Splatterhouse launched November 1988 in arcades from Namco as a Lovecraft beat em up about Rick Taylor in the Terror Mask saving Jennifer in West Mansion. Splatterhouse 2 followed in 1992 on Genesis back at the mansion, and Splatterhouse 3 arrived in 1993 with interconnected mansion map routes. Wanpaku Graffiti offered a 1989 NES super deformed spinoff.
The 2010 reboot from BottleRocket and Namco Bandai retold the mask story on PS3 and Xbox 360 with hack and slash scale. The series drew horror firsts for gore in the 1980s and saw DLC challenge maps in 2010, with no new game since the reboot.
Good to know
Release order follows mask lore and mansion return logic best, with each sequel assuming prior West Mansion runs known by heart well. Wanpaku can be played any time after part 1 as a parody break. The 2010 reboot retells rather than continues, so treat it as an alternate close after the Genesis trilogy.
