About Star Gladiator
Star Gladiator is Capcom first in house polygonal fighter on Sony ZN1 hardware, with plasma swords and four button layout instead of six. Episode 1 launched July 1996 with ten fights against Super Bilstein, ported to PlayStation that October to strong reviews around 82 percent. Plasma Sword followed March 1998 on ZN2 with 22 characters and plasma fields, ported to Dreamcast in 1999.
The story runs one year after Bilstein fall with ghost rumors on Zeta. Play Star Gladiator first for Plasma Strike basics, then Plasma Sword, since the sequel drops Plasma Final combos for new field systems.
Good to know
There is no separate chronological order worth listing for play. The two Capcom fighters from July 1996 to March 1998 follow Hayato and the Fourth Empire forward in release sequence, so release order and story order are the same list. Both appear in Capcom Fighting Collection 2 with the same arcade versions included.
