About StarCraft

StarCraft is Blizzard Entertainment's military science fiction saga about three factions fighting over the Koprulu Sector: the human Terrans, the swarming Zerg and the psionic Protoss. The story follows Jim Raynor, Sarah Kerrigan and Artanis across coups, infestations and an ancient Xel'Naga threat.

This play order follows release order, which matches the story order. Start with StarCraft, then Brood War, then the StarCraft II trilogy of Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void, ending with Nova Covert Ops. New players should start with the original StarCraft, best bought today as StarCraft Remastered.

StarCraft Remastered (August 14, 2017) is the current version of the first game and Brood War. The Wings of Liberty campaign went free-to-play in November 2017. No new StarCraft entries were announced as of September 2026.
