About Tenchu
Tenchu began with Acquire's Stealth Assassins (1998) about ninja Rikimaru and Ayame serving Lord Gohda. Wrath of Heaven (2003) continued their war against Tenrai, Fatal Shadows (2004) followed Rin around the Hagakure village, and the Xbox entries Time of the Assassins (2005) plus Z (2006) and Shadow Assassins (2008) closed the run.
FromSoftware published the later entries before moving to Souls, with no new Tenchu dated as of 2026 despite the Sekiro successor talk. The grappling-hook stealth and the Kanji level ratings run through every entry with the same Azuma code.
Good to know
Play Stealth Assassins first, then Wrath of Heaven, since the Gohda loyalty and the resurrection thread assume both. Fatal Shadows works as a side story any time after Wrath with its Rin focus. The Xbox entries divide fans with their co-op experiments, safe as extras after the core trilogy rather than required chapters.
