About Tony Hawk
Tony Hawk began as two minute arcade runs with Pro Skater through Pro Skater 4 from 1999 to 2002, then shifted to open story trips with Underground in 2003, Underground 2 in 2004 and American Wasteland in 2005. Later years cycled through Project 8, Proving Ground, board peripheral Ride and Shred, plus Pro Skater 5 in 2015.
Pro Skater 1 + 2 from 2020 rebuilds the first two parks with modern handling as the best entry now. Entries stand alone with no story order to follow. New players often start with the remake, Underground 2 for road trip variety, or American Wasteland for one connected city.
Good to know
Release order shows tricks grow from specials to manuals to parkour, but start with the remake for clean goals and online. Underground adds the board bail story that later games assume in tone only. Skip Ride, Shred and Pro Skater 5 first since peripherals and launches split opinion. Treat the 1 + 2 remake as the current endpoint with no new mainline dated.
