About Tony Hawk
Tony Hawk games are arcade skateboarding titles about score runs, secret tapes and ever bigger combo lines. The early Pro Skater games are pure two minute sessions, Underground adds a story plus driving sections, and later entries pile on new gimmicks. Newcomers should start with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 (2020), which rebuilds the first two games with modern handling.
Release order is the recommended play order, though story barely matters since each game stands alone. The 1+2 remake replaces the originals as the versions to play, and the 3+4 remake (2025) does the same for its pair. The Underground games plus American Wasteland form one continuous mid 2000s experiment with open world design.
Good to know
Project 8 (2006) and Proving Ground (2007) continued the series with diminishing returns and are skippable. THPS 5 (2015) launched in poor shape and is listed for completeness; the remakes are the better way to meet those eras. The 3+4 remake was announced in March 2025 for July 11, 2025; later ports or DLC may extend the list.
