Umineko When They Cry from 07th Expansion started August 17, 2007 at Comiket with Legend of the Golden Witch on Rokkenjima. Question Arcs cover episodes 1 to 4 through 2008, Answer Arcs cover episodes 5 to 8 through 2009 with Beatrice and Battler. MangaGamer released Question Arcs on Steam July 8, 2016 and Answer Arcs November 17, 2017.
The 26 episode anime aired July to December 2009 and adapts Question Arcs only. Umineko Saku arrived October 4, 2019 with all content plus two new scenarios. Golden Fantasia fighting game from 2010 is a spinoff. Read Question then Answer, then watch the anime as a recap.
Good to know
Release order is story order for the novels, so there is no separate timeline to untangle. Question Arcs run about 50 hours with sound novel focus and no choices. Answer Arcs resolve the epitaph and require the first half. The anime cuts lore and ends early, so treat it as optional after. Saku adds bonus routes after the main eight episodes and closes the set.
