About Wipeout
Wipeout started September 1995 with anti gravity ships and electronic music. 2097 in 1996 and 3 in 1999 built the classic tracks, while Fusion in 2002, Pure in 2005 and Pulse in 2007 moved to PS2 and PSP. HD in 2008 with Fury expansion brought 1080p.
2048 in 2012 on Vita is a story prequel set first in time. Omega Collection in June 2017 remasters HD, Fury and 2048 on PS4 and is the best way to play now. Merge in 2022 is a mobile manager spinoff. Studio Liverpool closed in 2012 and no console sequel has been announced as of September 2026.
Good to know
Story years run 2048, then 2052 original, 2097, 2116 part 3, 2160 Fusion, 2197 Pure and 2206 HD, but playing that way scatters mechanics. Release order keeps speed and weapons where designed. Play Omega Collection to cover HD and 2048 in one buy. The mobile Merge sits outside the main list and is optional.
