About Xenosaga
Xenosaga follows Shion and android KOS-MOS facing the Gnosis threat across three PS2 games from 2002 to 2006 with long cutscenes. Episode 1 sets the Zohar, U-TIC war and Vector labs, Episode 2 splits combat into mech and on foot with Jr stories, and Episode 3 closes the Testament plot.
The games share one serial story with saves that reward prior choices and code entries, so skipping breaks the Gnosis reveals badly. A DS remake of Episodes 1 and 2 stayed Japan only and works as optional after the trilogy with no new canon to chase.
Good to know
Play Episodes 1 through 3 in numbered order with no detours for the full arc. The combat shifts each entry but the story never resets its threads. The DS version is Japan only and optional after. The trilogy reads as closed with Takahashi moving to Xenoblade after, and no remake has been dated as of this check.
