About 101 Dalmatians
101 Dalmatians began with Disney's 1961 animated film about Pongo and Perdita rescuing the puppies from Cruella's coat plot. The live-action 101 (1996) with Glenn Close retells the dognapping, followed by 102 (2000) with the parole twist. Cruella (2021) from Craig Gillespie rewinds to Estella's punk London origin with Emma Stone.
A Cruella sequel has been in development for years with Stone returning and no cameras rolled. Each version resets the Dearlys and the spot count with no shared timeline, so every film starts clean for its generation.
Good to know
Watch the 1961 original first for the classic rescue, then the Close pair as their own live-action run, then Cruella as the villain origin. The prequel assumes the Cruella legend without continuing any puppy plot, so it slots last either way. The animated series from 1997 extends the original's puppies in its own episodes with no required placement.
