About 20th Century Boys
20th Century Boys 1: Beginning of the End from August 2008 opens the Friend cult mystery around Kenji and childhood symbols. Part 2: The Last Hope from January 2009 jumps years ahead with Kanna leading, and Part 3: Redemption from August 2009 closes the timeline.
All three come from director Yukihiko Tsutsumi with the manga author involved, covering the full conspiracy without filler arcs. The manga ran 1999 to 2006 with 21st Century Boys as epilogue, but the films end at Redemption. No new film is announced.
Good to know
Watch parts 1 through 3 in order without gaps between films. The symbol callbacks and year jumps assume the prior film directly, so shuffling breaks them badly. The trilogy trims manga side plots but keeps the spine, which means manga readers still get the same beats faster. Each part ends on a hook into the next one.
