About 300
300 arrived in 2006 from Zack Snyder about Leonidas and 300 Spartans holding Thermopylae against Xerxes. The film adapts Miller comic panels with slow motion spear work, shield walls and oracle politics through 2006 with bronze tones.
300 Rise of an Empire followed in 2014 with Themistocles at sea and Artemisia revenge while Leonidas fights on land nearby. The sequel runs parallel to the first film with naval scope and new heroes at Salamis. Watch 300 first for land stakes, then Rise of an Empire for sea flank. No third film has been produced as of 2026 with no shoot planned. Start with 300 for the cleanest entry.
Good to know
Start with 300 for Leonidas shield rules and Xerxes threat that the sequel assumes from the opening. Rise of an Empire overlaps the same war at sea, so first film battles keep timeline clear for new viewers. Both share Miller panel style with bronze and blood color. The run paused in 2014 with series talk but no shoot, so these two features form the complete war path.
