About The Apple Dumpling Gang
The Apple Dumpling Gang (1975) follows gambler Russell Donovan stuck with three orphans and gold, while Amos Tucker and Theodore Olevie bumble around the edges. Directed by Norman Tokar, the western comedy became a surprise hit for Disney.
The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again (1979) promotes Amos and Theodore to leads, framed for bank robbery then joining the army under Marshal Woolly Bill Hitchcock. Directed by Vincent McEveety with Tim Matheson and Harry Morgan, it runs 88 minutes. Watch the 1975 film first for orphan setup, then the 1979 sequel for the army payoff.
Good to know
Release order matches story order since the 1979 film continues Amos and Theodore arc after going straight. Start with the 1975 original for full orphan gold context that the sequel references. Rides Again works only after meeting the duo, so avoid starting there. No third Gang film exists, so this pair is the complete run.
