About Lucky Luke
Lucky Luke comes from Morris and Goscinny’s comics about a cowboy who shoots faster than his shadow. Daisy Town from 1971 and La Ballade des Dalton from 1978 set the animated style with the Dalton gang as the running foes. The Hanna-Barbera series from 1983 adapts many albums across 26 episodes.
The 1991 series adds 26 more episodes, and Les Nouvelles Aventures from 2001 runs 52 episodes with a looser tone. Go West from 2007 closes the animated run as a theatrical feature. Live action films from 1991 and 2009 retell the origin separately and can be treated as extras.
Good to know
Start with Daisy Town or the 1983 series to learn the setup, since every later entry assumes you know Luke, Jolly Jumper and the Daltons. The Daltons on the Run from 1983 reuses series episodes as a compilation film, so it can be skipped if you watch the series. The live action films are separate retellings and fit anywhere after the animated start.
