About Attack of the Killer Tomatoes
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes from 1978 cost about 100,000 dollars and spoofs giant menace films with Mason Dixon facing the first attack. Return of the Killer Tomatoes from April 22, 1988 brings back Professor Gangreen with human-looking tomatoes and a young George Clooney. The Fox Kids cartoon ran 21 episodes across two seasons from September 8, 1990 to November 23, 1991.
Killer Tomatoes Strike Back from 1991 and Killer Tomatoes Eat France from 1992 close the original run. Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence was announced in June 2025 with David Koechner and others, and set VOD for October 6. It is not out yet as of this check, so it sits last with no firm year in some lists.
Good to know
Watch films in release order and take the cartoon as an optional branch after Return, since it reworks Return's setup with Chad and Tara. The cartoon is canon-adjacent rather than required, so film-only viewers lose nothing by skipping it. Organic Intelligence is dated October 6 on VOD announcements, but keep its entry flexible until it actually streams. The 1986 and 1991 video games stay out of the watch list.
