Avatar follows Jake Sully on Pandora in release order across three films so far. The original from 2009 introduces the Na'vi and the RDA invasion, The Way of Water from 2022 moves the Sullys to the reef tribes, and Fire and Ash from December 2025 pits them against the Ash People with a $1.49 billion box office run.
James Cameron has two more sequels dated: Avatar 4 on December 21, 2029 and Avatar 5 on December 19, 2031, with a time jump planned to age up the Sully children. No series or spin-off carries the story between films, so the theatrical run is the whole path.
