About Babe
Babe began in 1995 with George Miller producing the story of the pig herding sheep on Hoggett Farm, earning seven Oscar nominations including Best Picture. Babe: Pig in the City (1998) from Miller himself takes Babe to the metropolis hotel against the bulldog mob and the pitbull chase.
The sequel divides fans with its darker city tone against the farm warmth, but both films share James Cromwell's farmer and the narrating mice. No third film has been announced, leaving the city outing as the close rather than a new run's start.
Good to know
Watch the farm film first, then the city sequel, since the Hoggett bond and the sheepdog skills assume the original. The sequel plays stranger and sadder on purpose, which lands better with the farm goodwill fresh. The talking-animal effects hold up in both, with the city film's hotel set rewarding full attention.
