About David Michod
David Michod debuted with Animal Kingdom in 2010 about the Cody crime family in Melbourne. The Rover followed in 2014 with Pearce chasing his car past collapse. War Machine arrived in 2017 with Pitt as a McChrystal style general.
The King came in 2019 with Chalamet as Hal taking Agincourt. The films share men proving codes but no plot links at all. Each runs stern and dusty on purpose. Release order shows his doc roots hardening into epic with the same hard line intact throughout. His doc roots show in the dust and wide lenses used across the films.
Good to know
Watch oldest to newest since each code resets its men and wars. Animal Kingdom first sets the family base for the run ahead. Rover and King pair as his outback bookends to give full focus. War Machine breaks the run as satire. No next feature has a date yet, so the 2019 Hal film stays last until one lands.
