About Evil Dead
Evil Dead starts with Sam Raimi's cabin films: The Evil Dead in 1981, Evil Dead II in 1987 and Army of Darkness in 1992, all starring Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams. The 2013 film reboots the premise with Mia Allen instead of Ash, then Ash vs Evil Dead ran three seasons on Starz from 2015 to 2018 as a direct continuation of Ash's story. Evil Dead Rise moved the horror to a Los Angeles apartment block in 2023.
Evil Dead Burn opened July 10, 2026 as a standalone outbreak story. Evil Dead Wrath is planned as a 1972-set prequel, currently aimed at 2028, which would make it the earliest story even though it releases last.
Good to know
Release order is the recommended first watch, since Evil Dead II retells parts of the first film and Army of Darkness lands better once you know Ash. Chronological order only moves two things: Army of Darkness opens in 1300 AD and the planned Wrath prequel sits in 1972, before everything else. The 2013 film and Rise share one continuity where the cabin events still happened, so they slot after the Ash trilogy rather than beside it.
