About Extraction
Extraction (2020) drops Chris Hemsworth's Tyler Rake into a Dhaka rescue mission filmed to look like one continuous take: a star vehicle built around a 12-minute oner. Extraction 2 (2023) resurrects Rake for a Georgian prison break with an even longer oner and a colder palette.
Watch both in order; the sequel opens with Rake's survival and assumes the first film's team. The Russo-produced line favors sustained action geography over plot, which is exactly the appeal. A third film has been discussed as the natural close. The oners are genuine technical achievements regardless of story quibbles.
Good to know
The first film's ending made the sequel's resurrection the main talking point: it is handled briskly, so do not dwell. The prison-break oner runs over 20 minutes and is the sequel's reason to exist. Character work stays thin by design; the stunt teams are the auteurs here. The third film had been discussed but carried no date at the last check.
