About Father of the Bride
Father of the Bride starts with Spencer Tracy as Stanley Banks in the 1950 original, followed by the direct sequel Father's Little Dividend in 1951 about grandfatherhood. The 1991 remake moves the same story to Steve Martin as George Banks, with Father of the Bride Part II in 1995 covering a double pregnancy. A short reunion film, Part 3(ish), arrived in 2020.
The 2022 version with Andy Garcia reimagines the premise around a Cuban American family on HBO Max. Each version retells Edward Streeter's 1949 novel rather than continuing the last, so release order shows how the joke about wedding costs changes across 70 years.
