About Freddie Francis
Freddie Francis won an Oscar for shooting Sons and Lovers, then moved to directing for Hammer with The Evil of Frankenstein in 1964 and Dr. Terror's House of Horrors in 1965 for Amicus. Dracula Has Risen from the Grave followed in 1968 with Christopher Lee. Tales from the Crypt arrived in 1972 as a five story Amicus anthology.
The Creeping Flesh came in 1973 with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, then Tales That Witness Madness the same year, an anthology linked by a mental hospital frame. Legend of the Werewolf closed the pick in 1975 for Tyburn with a Paris beast story. Francis died in 2007, so this run is closed. Watch in release order, since the anthology method sharpens each time.
Good to know
This guide lists directing credits only, not the separate Francis career as cinematographer on The Innocents, The Elephant Man, Glory and Cape Fear. The horror anthologies stand alone, so there is no chronological order to untangle. Tales That Witness Madness is uneven by design, with the frame story tying four tales. Start with Tales from the Crypt or Dracula Has Risen from the Grave. The run is complete.
