About George Formby
George Formby stars as gormless Lancashire lads with ukulele songs across 21 comedies. Boots Boots from 1934 sets the hotel boy wins with toothy grin. Off the Dole from 1935 and Keep Your Seats Please from 1936 continue with theatre tricks to 4 million tickets and singalongs.
Feather Your Nest through Let George Do It and Turned Out Nice Again close through 1946 with war service gags. No further Formby run was made after his 1961 death, so the 21 form the set with diplomas dodged and songs sung.
Good to know
Watch the 21 in release order since Formby jobs and ukulele turns carry over in spirit directly. Later films assume you know the S1 boots grin and seat tricks from early halls. Jobs reset each film but the underdog win builds throughout. Treat the 1946 civvy as the planned close with no further Formby dated.
