About Harmony Korine
Harmony Korine (1997 to 2023) films drifters, partiers and beach philosophers. Start with Gummo (1997) for the tornado-town vignettes and Julien Donkey-Boy (1999) for the Dogme-style family portrait. Continue with Spring Breakers (2012) for the neon crime trip and The Beach Bum (2019) for the stoner poet ramble, closing with Aggro Dr1ft (2023) for the infrared experiment.
Watch in release order because each film pushes his collage style further out. The early works shock with nonactors and bleak humor. Spring Breakers packages the chaos as a pop crime saga. Aggro Dr1ft drops story for texture and score. The five films share no characters but one arc from provocation to pure vibe cinema.
Good to know
The five-film path runs 1997 to 2023 and skips shorts and skits to keep the feature arc clear. Gummo and Julien demand patience with fragmented scenes and harsh tones. Spring Breakers is the accessible entry with stars and hooks. Watch in order, since the move from script fragments to neon crime to plotless drift reads as one deliberate loosening of form.
