About Jacques Tourneur
Cat People from 1942 opens the Lewton run with shadows over a Serbian bride, redefining horror by suggestion. I Walked with a Zombie from 1943 follows in Caribbean dread. Out of the Past from 1947 gives the noir peak, with Mitchum trapped by Greer.
Stars in My Crown from 1950 shows the gentle favorite, a minister western Tourneur loved most. Nightfall from 1957 returns to noir from a Goodis novel. Night of the Demon from 1957 closes this run with runes and cult dread. Later westerns extend it for completists.
Good to know
The films share mood but no plot, so release order shows the craft arc best. Start with Cat People for the Lewton method, then Out of the Past for the noir high. Night of the Demon plays best late, with the full runes payoff. The Lewton trio works as a triple bill night. The Giant of Marathon sits outside this list.
