About Jean-Pierre Jeunet
Jean-Pierre Jeunet, born September 3, 1953, made his feature debut with Marc Caro on Delicatessen in 1991, then The City of Lost Children in 1995. Hollywood came next with Alien Resurrection in 1997, his only American feature. He returned to Paris for Amelie in 2001, the Montmartre romance that became his biggest hit, followed by A Very Long Engagement in 2004.
Micmacs arrived in 2009, The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet in 2013, and the Netflix robot comedy Bigbug in 2022. Watch the eight in release order. Each film stands alone, and release order tracks his shift from dark workshop fantasy to warmer romantic comedy without spoiling anything.
Good to know
There is no shared continuity here, so no separate chronological order is needed. The early Caro collaborations play fine as Jeunet films, and Alien Resurrection fits as his Hollywood detour rather than as an Alien saga entry. Jeunet remains active, with Violette in post production for 2026, so this list will need an update once it releases. Start with Delicatessen and Amelie if you only want two.
