About John McTiernan
John McTiernan started with Predator in 1987 hunting commandos in jungle heat. Die Hard followed in 1988 locking McClane in Nakatomi, then The Hunt for Red October in 1990 sneaking Connery under ice. Last Action Hero arrived in 1993 spoofing its own star.
Die Hard with a Vengeance came in 1995 running New York, The 13th Warrior in 1999 braving Vikings, The Thomas Crown Affair the same year stealing art, Rollerball in 2002 crashing arenas, and Basic in 2003 drilling Travolta. The films share muscle and sweat but separate plots, so release order tracks the action peaking.
Good to know
Watch oldest to newest since each mission resets its men. Predator first sets the jungle base for the run. The Die Hard two play as his tower city bookends to give full focus. October suits sub nights while Basic closes as the drill turn. No next feature has a date yet, so Basic stays last until one lands.
