About John Wick
Four John Wick films followed Keanu Reeves's retired assassin from 2014 to 2023, ending with the dawn duel in Chapter 4. Ballerina, released June 6, 2025, stars Ana de Armas and is set between Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 despite coming out after both. The Continental, three episodes on Peacock in September 2023, is a prequel about how a young Winston took over the hotel.
Lionsgate has confirmed three further projects, none of them dated: a Caine spin-off film with Donnie Yen in production, an animated prequel film in pre-production, and John Wick: Chapter 5, which the studio says will arrive after both. A series called John Wick: Under the High Table was greenlit in 2024 and is still looking for a home.
Good to know
Release order and story order differ only in two places: Ballerina, which rewinds slightly before Chapter 4, and The Continental, set in 1970s New York decades before everything else. Most viewers watch in release order without missing anything. The three announced films carry no year because none has a release date, and Chapter 5 has not started filming.
