About Karate Kid
The original trilogy follows Daniel LaRusso under Mr. Miyagi from 1984 to 1989, and The Next Karate Kid from 1994 hands Miyagi a new student. The 2010 film with Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan was a separate continuity for 15 years until Karate Kid: Legends from May 2025 tied Mr. Han to Miyagi and made it part of the same world.
Cobra Kai ran 65 episodes from May 2018 to February 2025 and acts as a direct sequel to the first three films. Legends is set three years after the Cobra Kai finale, so release order and story order match. The 13-episode NBC cartoon from 1989 was declared non-canon by the Cobra Kai creators.
Good to know
There is no separate chronological list worth using here, since every live action entry plays in the order it premiered. Watch the 1984 to 1989 trilogy, then Cobra Kai, then Legends. Slot The Next Karate Kid after Part III and the 2010 film before Legends. The cartoon fits anywhere or nowhere, since it does not connect to Cobra Kai or Legends and adds nothing the films need.
