About Kindergarten Cop
Kindergarten Cop opened December 21, 1990 from Ivan Reitman about Kimble going undercover as teacher to catch drug dealer. It runs 111 minutes with Astoria kids and ferret. Kindergarten Cop 2 arrived May 2016 straight to video with Dolph Lundgren as Reed finding flash drive.
Stories share premise with new cast and no shared plot, so either works first, but release order shows school comedy evolution. No third film has been announced, so these two are complete with PG-13 and PG ratings. Both run about 100 minutes with classroom chaos.
Good to know
Watch the 1990 original first for Kimble and Phoebe exam beats, then 2016 for Reed flash drive case. The original carries theater scale with Reitman pacing, the sequel is video budget with Lundgren deadpan. Expect kids outsmarting cop jokes each time. Both suit family nights with mild language. All stream on family platforms.
