About Kissing Booth
The Kissing Booth adapts Beth Reekles' Wattpad novel about Elle Evans, her best friend Lee Flynn and his older brother Noah. The 2018 original sets up the forbidden romance, the 2020 sequel tests it across a long distance college year with Marco as the complication, and the 2021 third film closes it around a beach bucket list and a Harvard versus Berkeley choice.
Vince Marcello directed all three films with Joey King, Jacob Elordi and Joel Courtney throughout. The second and third films were shot back to back in South Africa. The story runs straight through senior year into the summer after graduation, so release order and story order match.
Good to know
Watch all three in release order, since each ending feeds the next film's opening. The trilogy was planned as a closed set, and Netflix billed the third film as the finale. Elle's Harvard versus Berkeley choice only pays off if you have seen the first two films in sequence. No fourth film has been announced, so the 2021 beach summer is where the story stops.
