About La Verite si je mens
La Verite si je mens from April 1997 follows unemployed Eddie posing as a Jew in Sentier textiles with Dov, Yvan and Patrick around him. Thomas Gilou directs with Richard Anconina leading to 5 million tickets. The shop banter and Serge bluffs drive every deal.
La Verite 2 from 2001 and La Verite 3 from 2012 continue weddings, rivalries and store wars with the same crew. Les Debuts from 2019 prequels the gang in the 1980s with new young actors on the same streets. No fifth was dated by September 2026, so the four form the set.
Good to know
Watch one to three then the prequel, since Debuts spoils who marries whom in its first minutes. The first three assume you know the Sentier shops and Serge bluffs from Eddie's lies. French community jokes play throughout with subs and brisk pacing. Treat the 2019 Debuts as a bonus after the main trio, not a starting point.
