About Maleficent
Maleficent retells Sleeping Beauty from the villain's side, with Angelina Jolie as the fairy who curses Princess Aurora and then reconsiders. The first film covers the curse and its aftermath. Mistress of Evil picks up several years later as Aurora plans to marry Prince Phillip and Queen Ingrith pushes the human and fairy kingdoms toward war.
A third film has been in development with Linda Woolverton writing and Jolie expected back, but Disney has not set a date. Watch the two released films in release order and treat the third as a future add-on once it films.
Good to know
Release order and story order are the same list, so there is no separate chronological order worth printing. Mistress of Evil states directly that several years have passed since the first film. The third film is real development work, not a rumor, with Woolverton attached in March 2025 coverage, but with no shoot date it stays as a null-year entry rather than a placed sequel.
