About Mimic
Mimic from August 22, 1997 follows Dr. Tyler's engineered roach killers evolving to mimic humans in New York subways, directed by Guillermo del Toro for Dimension on 30 million. It earned 25.5 million theatrically. Mimic 2 from 2001 follows teacher Remy stalked by a surviving male in the city.
Mimic 3: Sentinel from October 14, 2003 watches a shut-in photographing a new infestation from his window. Neither sequel brings back del Toro or the original leads beyond Koromzay in part 2. No fourth film has been made. Each works alone with a new infestation.
Good to know
Watch in release order, since the breed spreads wider each time. The original is the only theatrical entry with del Toro's design stamp, the next two are direct to video with smaller scale. Sentinel homages Rear Window, which plays better after the subway hunts. With no TV series ordered, the 2003 entry closes the run.
