About OSS 117
OSS 117 starts with 1950s and 1960s spy films about Hubert Bonisseur de La Bath from Jean Bruce books. OSS 117 Is Not Dead from 1956 and later Secret Missions keep the straight Eurospy tone across the early run.
Cairo Nest of Spies from 2006 with Jean Dujardin reboots as spoof, Lost in Rio from 2009 follows in Brazil, and From Africa with Love from 2021 closes the Hazanavicius run. The reboot keeps Hubert clueless while the world moves on. A new film has been discussed but had no date as of September 2026.
Good to know
Watch the Dujardin trilogy in order for the running gags, since Rio assumes Cairo’s Hubert. The 1950s films are optional background for spy fans and fit anywhere before the reboot. From Africa with Love works as the trilogy close. Treat the run as paused rather than closed while a follow up stays possible.
