About Pete Walker
Pete Walker moved from low budget sex comedies into horror in the early 1970s. Die Screaming, Marianne arrived in 1971, then The Flesh and Blood Show in 1972, a showbiz slasher about a derelict seaside theatre. House of Whipcord and Frightmare both arrived in 1974, the first a prison abuse story with Sheila Keith, the second a farmhouse cannibal story.
House of Mortal Sin followed in 1976 with a killer priest, plus Schizo the same year with Lynne Frederick. The Comeback arrived in 1978, Home Before Midnight in 1979, and House of the Long Shadows in 1983 with Price, Lee, Cushing and John Carradine. Watch in release order. The films are standalone but the run shows his authority figure theme build film by film.
Good to know
These films share no continuity, so there is no chronological order to untangle. House of Mortal Sin is also listed as The Confessional. Start with House of Whipcord or Frightmare for the core Walker style, then try Schizo. Walker was born in July 1939 and is retired from directing since 1983, with no new film announced as of October 2026, so the list covers his horror years in full.
