About Peter Sasdy
Hungarian born Peter Sasdy came to features from BBC television, including the much rated ghost play The Stone Tape from 1972. His Hammer run starts with Taste the Blood of Dracula in 1970, a strong late Dracula entry with Christopher Lee. Countess Dracula followed in 1971 with Ingrid Pitt as the Bathory inspired countess, then Hands of the Ripper later that year, a Jack the Ripper sequel story.
Doomwatch in 1972 adapts the BBC science fiction series as an island contamination thriller. Nothing but the Night in 1973 pairs Lee with Peter Cushing in a charity trust mystery with horror edges. I Don't Want to Be Born in 1975 closes this set as a demonic baby thriller. Watch in release order, since the films share no continuity and the order shows his gothic style turning modern.
Good to know
All six films are standalone, so there is no shared timeline and release order is the viewing order. I Don't Want to Be Born also circulates as The Devil Within and as Sharon's Baby, which helps when searching listings. This set skips his large television output and later films such as The Lonely Lady. Sasdy was born in 1935 and is reported living as of October 2026, so the guide stays marked ongoing.
