About The Platform
The Platform (2019) drops Goreng into a vertical prison where food falls level by level, premiering September 2019 at TIFF with Netflix from March 20, 2020. The Platform 2 (2024) rewinds to earlier prisoners Perempuan and Dagin Babi with new law versus barbarian rules, opening October 4, 2024 on Netflix from the same director Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia.
Netflix and the director confirm part two is an in story prequel, so chronological order runs 2 then 1. Release order still wins first, since the sequel assumes you know Trimagasi, the panna cotta and the child twist. The director wants a third film, but Netflix has not ordered one.
Good to know
Watch in release order first, since the prequel spoils who survives the pit. Chronological order works only on rewatch once you know the 2019 ending. The 2019 date refers to TIFF, with most viewers meeting it in 2020. Treat the duology as waiting, since a third has been pitched but never dated and the pit rules keep shifting.
