About Ponniyin Selvan
Ponniyin Selvan adapts Kalki Krishnamurthy novel across two parts from Mani Ratnam. Part 1 from September 2022 sets the Chola succession crisis with Vandiyathevan carrying messages between Aditya Karikalan, Arulmozhi and Kundavai. Part 2 from April 2023 resolves the throne question and the Pandya revenge plot.
Watch Part 1 then Part 2. The two were shot together and split by story break, so there is no alternate order. The films share cast with Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai and Trisha across both parts.
Good to know
This is a straight two part adaptation with no prequels or spinoffs to place. Part 1 ends on the bridge into the sea battle and the question of Arulmozhi survival. Part 2 answers it and closes the Chola arc. Both parts run close to three hours each, so plan two nights. No third part has been announced, and the story is complete as released.
