About REC
REC follows reporter Angela Vidal and her cameraman into a Barcelona apartment block sealed off during a night shoot, and the infection inside only gets worse from there. The first film plays out in real time through their camera, while REC 2 picks up minutes later with a tactical team sent into the same building.
REC 3 Genesis breaks away to a wedding hit by the same outbreak, told as a separate story with its own couple. REC 4 Apocalypse returns to Angela on a ship lab and closes her arc. Watch in release order. The American Quarantine remakes retell the first films on their own and sit outside this list.
Good to know
Release order matches story order for the Angela run, because REC 2 starts minutes after REC 1 ends and REC 4 continues her story directly. REC 3 is a side story set during the same outbreak with new characters, so it can be watched third without losing anything. The Quarantine remakes are separate American versions. No fifth film has been announced, so the four-film run is complete for now.
