About Robert Fuest
Robert Fuest came from art direction on The Avengers before features. Just Like a Woman arrived in 1967, then two 1970 films: Wuthering Heights with Timothy Dalton and the rural thriller And Soon the Darkness. The Abominable Dr. Phibes followed in 1971 with Vincent Price as the organ playing avenger, a mix of horror and black comedy that became his signature.
Dr. Phibes Rises Again arrived in 1972 with Price back in Egypt, then The Final Programme in 1973 from the Michael Moorcock novel, with Jon Finch as Jerry Cornelius. The Devil's Rain closed this pick in 1975 with Ernest Borgnine and William Shatner. Watch in release order, since the Phibes two are the only linked pair and they already sit in story order.
Good to know
Only the two Phibes films connect, and release order matches their story order, so no separate chronological list is needed. Start with The Abominable Dr. Phibes if you want one film, then take the sequel directly after. Wuthering Heights was cut by its studio before release, which explains its short shape. The run is complete. Fuest died in March 2012, with no later features in this horror run.
