  2. 2 Rush Hour 2 2001 · movie Directed by Brett Ratner. A counterfeiting case takes the duo to Hong Kong and Las Vegas.
  3. 3 Rush Hour 3 2007 · movie Directed by Brett Ratner. A triad assassination attempt pulls them to Paris.

About Rush Hour

Jackie Chan plays Hong Kong Inspector Lee and Chris Tucker plays LAPD Detective James Carter, mismatched partners across three films, all directed by Brett Ratner: Rush Hour (1998), Rush Hour 2 (2001), and Rush Hour 3 (2007). The trilogy grossed over $850 million worldwide and played huge in China on Chan's pulling power.

A fourth film spent years in limbo before Paramount agreed to distribute it in November 2025, with Ratner returning and Chan and Tucker expected back, according to Variety. The deal followed public lobbying from President Trump, per Semafor's reporting. No shoot or release date had been set as of September 2026, and later reports questioned whether both stars had firmly committed, so treat the sequel as tentative.

Good to know

Uncertainty as of September 2026: Ratner told the press both stars were ready and the budget exceeds $100 million, but at least one later report said neither Chan nor Tucker had formally signed. Warner Bros., whose New Line label backed the originals, gets first-dollar gross while Paramount distributes. No title, plot, shoot, or date exists, so any year attached to Rush Hour 4 is a guess.
