About Scanners
Scanners spans five films from Cronenberg's 1981 original about telepathic wars to the two Scanner Cop spinoffs of the mid nineties. The Duguay sequels continue the Lyon family fallout in the early nineties, while Scanner Cop shifts to a cop with powers fighting cult villains.
Watch in release order since the Lyon arc runs through the first three before the spinoff branch. A 2007 remake with Bousman and Goyer attached never reached production, which keeps these five as the complete run with no reboot pending.
Good to know
Release order works as story order for the Lyon films with the Cop spinoffs after, so no alternate list is needed. The third film carries both 1991 and 1992 dates from copyright to release in different markets. With the remake cancelled, these five films from 1981 to 1995 are the whole series for fans.
