One list, because the seven films run in a single unbroken sequence. The eighth is appended where it will land if it keeps its place at the end.

About Scream

Wes Craven's Scream opened December 20, 1996 and invented the self-aware slasher, and the sequels kept one story running: Scream 2 one year on, Scream 3 in 2000, Scream 4 in 2011, a soft reboot in January 2022, and Scream VI in New York in March 2023. Scream 7 arrived February 27, 2026 with Kevin Williamson directing and Campbell's Sidney as the lead again, grossing $214 million worldwide on a $45 million budget.

Nothing ever restarts the continuity, so release order and story order are the same list. Spyglass confirmed an eighth film on March 31, 2026 with Lilla and Nora Zuckerman writing, and no director or date is attached yet.

Good to know

The titles are a trap. The 2022 film is simply called Scream, which reads like a remake and is not one. Scream VI dropped Sidney entirely after Campbell sat it out over a pay dispute, then Scream 7 put her back in the middle with a daughter to protect. Watch straight through and you miss nothing. Scream 7 runs 114 minutes.
