About Sergio Corbucci
Django from 1966 opens with Nero dragging a coffin into a border war, setting new violence marks. Navajo Joe from 1966 follows with Reynolds as the avenger. The Hellbenders from 1967 runs a family of killers home.
The Mercenary from 1968 pairs Nero with Palance over revolution money. The Great Silence from 1968 gives the snowbound mute gunslinger peak, bleak to the end. Companeros from 1970 closes this run with Milian and Nero. Later comedies extend it for completists. Morricone scores the peaks throughout.
Good to know
The westerns share politics but no plot, so release order shows the mud and blood arc best. Start with Django for the coffin opener, then Great Silence for the masterpiece. The Mercenary and Companeros play as a revolution pair. Expect high body counts throughout the run. Django Strikes Again sits outside this core list.
