About Sergio Leone
Sergio Leone directed The Colossus of Rhodes in 1961, then A Fistful of Dollars in 1964, For a Few Dollars More in 1965 and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly in 1966. The Dollars run with Clint Eastwood redefined the western around long stares, wide landscapes and Ennio Morricone scores.
Once Upon a Time in the West followed in 1968, Duck, You Sucker! in 1971 and Once Upon a Time in America in 1984, a gangster epic years in the making. Watch in release order. The westerns share a style but no plot continuity, and America lands harder once the western craft is familiar.
Good to know
These are standalone stories with no shared continuity, so no chronological order exists. The Dollars films share Eastwood's poncho figure but work as separate stories. Start with the Dollars run, then West, then America. The run closed with Once Upon a Time in America in 1984, five years before Leone's death in 1989.
