About The Wild Wild West

The Wild Wild West (1965 to 1969) mixes western with spy-fi: Jim West and Artemus Gordon battle anachronistic villains (and Miguelito Loveless) across four CBS seasons. The show's gadget-laden Victoriana invented the steampunk western.

Broadcast order is the guide; the series light-serializes its recurring villains while keeping episodes standalone. The two 1979 and 1980 TV reunion films continue the duo for completists. The 1999 Will Smith film reboots the premise with blockbuster scale and is best treated as a separate curiosity. The show ends its run without a finale event.

Good to know

The TV reunion films (The Wild Wild West Revisited, More Wild Wild West) slot after the series and are gentle codas rather than essentials. The 1999 film's reputation is deserved in places and harsh in others: its Loveless reimagining is the main sore point. Robert Conrad's stunt work defined the show's physicality. No revival has been announced, so the 1969 end plus reunions is the close.
