About Spirit
Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron from 2002 follows the wild mustang through frontier cavalry plots with an Oscar nominated song score. Spirit Riding Free then rebooted the world on Netflix from 2017 with Lucky and friends across 8 seasons and 52 episodes.
Pony Tales added short adventures in 2019, Riding Academy ran 16 episodes in 2020, and the interactive Ride Along Adventure closed that branch. Spirit Untamed from June 2021 works as a soft reboot tied to the series rather than the 2002 film. No new Spirit screen project sits in the announced slate.
Good to know
Watch the 2002 film on its own first for the classic version. Then run Riding Free seasons 1 through 8 with Pony Tales and Riding Academy in release order for the series branch. Untamed fits after the series, not after the original, since it continues Lucky. The branches never cross, so picking one path is enough.
