About Stanley Lupino
Stanley Lupino came from the famous Lupino theatre family and headlined stage hits like Love Lies, Hold My Hand and Sporting Love before carrying them to the screen. You Made Me Love You and Facing the Music both arrived in 1933, built around his easy patter and song breaks opposite co-stars such as Thelma Todd.
Honeymoon for Three followed in 1935 and Cheer Up in 1936, the latter made through his own production company at Ealing. Over She Goes in 1937 and Hold My Hand in 1938 closed his run of starring vehicles. Lupino died in June 1942, so release order is the full story here, with each film a standalone farce.
Good to know
Lupino wrote or co-wrote most of these pictures, usually adapting his own stage shows, which explains why the plots feel built for his routines. Release order matches any story order because every film stands alone. His daughter Ida Lupino later became the better known screen name in Hollywood, while these six capture the father at his peak in British musical comedy.
