About Tarzan films
Tarzan went from Weissmuller's twelve-film run starting in 1932 to the serious Greystoke in 1984, Disney animation in 1999, and the Congo-set Legend of Tarzan in 2016.
These are separate retellings rather than one story, so release order is a straight tour from the serial era to the blockbuster era.
Good to know
Sony picked up the screen rights in September 2022 for what it called a total reinvention, but no director, cast, or date has followed, so it stays off the list for now.
