About The Ten Commandments
The Ten Commandments covers Moses from Egypt to Sinai. DeMille's 1923 silent version pairs the Exodus prologue with a modern brothers story. The 1956 VistaVision remake with Charlton Heston runs 220 minutes, was the most expensive film of its day, and won for effects. It drops the modern half for full Exodus.
The 2007 animated version with Christian Slater and Ben Kingsley narrating retells it in 88 minutes for younger viewers. DeMille directed both live action versions, refilming shots nearly identically. Each film starts from Exodus rather than continuing the last.
